Delhi Government to Set Up Cooling Zones at 97 NEET Centres, Parents to Receive Drinking Water, Oral Rehydration Solution and First Aid Support
Ahead of the June 21 NEET examination, the Delhi Government will establish cooling zones at all 97 examination centres across the capital. The facilities will provide seating, clean drinking water, oral rehydration solution, refreshing beverages and first aid support for candidates and parents, ensuring relief from extreme heat and prolonged waiting hours.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced that the cooling zones will offer seating arrangements for candidates and their family members, along with access to clean drinking water, refreshing beverages and other essential amenities. The initiative aims to ensure that those waiting outside examination centres for several hours do not have to endure discomfort caused by heat and prolonged exposure to the sun.
According to the Chief Minister, a total of 97 centres have been designated in Delhi for the NEET examination, including 69 government schools and 28 Kendriya Vidyalaya institutions. Special cooling zones are being created around all these centres under the supervision of the district administration.
Rekha Gupta said that while candidates remain inside examination halls during the test, parents and guardians often spend several hours outside in difficult weather conditions, and their concerns, discomfort and exposure to extreme heat frequently go unnoticed. Understanding this humanitarian aspect, the Delhi Government has decided to ensure that parents do not face inconvenience on the examination day.
The Chief Minister stated that, following directions issued by the Divisional Commissioner, concerned officials are ensuring the establishment of cooling zones around every examination centre. She emphasized that providing every possible support to candidates appearing for a crucial examination like NEET and to their families is the responsibility of the government.
The initiative highlights the administration’s effort to combine examination management with public welfare, ensuring comfort and support for thousands of candidates and their accompanying family members during one of the country's most important entrance examinations.
